Library The Country Day School library contains over eight thousand books, board games, card games, videos and DVDs. Housed in the Great Hall, all the students have access to the library during the school day and after school as needed. The kindergarten through eighth grade has a weekly designated library time. In addition, students may come to the library if they have finished class work during the day to read, research or play a game. The games are especially popular in the cold winter months. Preschool also has a designated library time on Thursday mornings, when they come as a group to read a poem, a story and look at books. The preschool book bag program allows these students to borrow a book and manipulative for home reading. In the event that a parent wants additional reading material, they are welcome to come by with their preschooler and check out additional books. Our librarian, Roberta Malcolm, has a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama. She has worked in a school library since 1993 and has been at CDS since 2002. Always ready with a suggestion for materials, she maintains a fresh and up-to-date collection for the enjoyment of students, parents and staff.
