Payments and Late Fee Policies

All tuition and Kid’s Club fees should be paid by automatic EFT payments processed by your financial institution checking or savings account through our EZ-EFT program.   The EZ-EFT program allows you to pre-authorize your payments to be made automatically and electronically by your financial institution on either the 1st or the 20th of each month. There is no charge to you for enrolling in this service.

Another option available to our families is automatic EFT payment from your Visa or MasterCard.  If you elect this option, there is a 3% convenience fee that applies to each transaction.  This option also allows for monthly payments on the 1st or 20th.

For those choosing to pay by check, we offer an invoicing option for a $120 yearly fee, due at the time of registration.  You will be issued an invoice based upon your payment schedule (annual, quarterly, or monthly), and you may continue to turn in your payments at the school.  Please do not send tuition checks with your child or leave them on the desks in the office.  If you bring payments to the school please deposit them in the brass mailbox in the foyer of the preschool or the mail slot next to the bookkeeper’s window in the main entrance.  Payments may be mailed to the school if you so desire.  Please put your child’s name on the memo line for proper credit.  Make checks payable to CDS.  Please address any questions to Karen Lake, Bookkeeper.

Late Payments:

Payments not received by their due date will be subject to a late fee of $10 plus $1 per day until paid.  If payment is over two weeks late without explanation the child will be unable to return to school until paid.

NSF Checks:

There is a $15.00 service charge for any returned check or attempted EFT.  If the check is returned twice the child will be unable to return to school until a money order or cashier’s check is brought in to the office.

Miscellaneous Fees:

Payment for miscellaneous fees (field trips. pictures, pizza, etc) should be paid by check with proper notation in the memo area.

Late Pick-ups:

For Half Day Preschool, Half Day Kindergarten, Primary, and Elementary students, a late fee is charged beginning after the scheduled pick-up time. (See Hours, above.)  The fee is $10.00 for the 1st fifteen minutes and $1.00 per minute thereafter. Children picked up late from Kid’s Club and Full Day Preschool are charged $10.00 for the 1st five minutes and $1.00/minute thereafter.  These fees also apply to children brought to school early.  Please make every effort to be prompt in order to avoid causing your child any unnecessary anxiety.

Sibling Discount:

We offer tuition discounts to families with more than one child attending The Country Day School. Discounts are as follows:

2nd child10%
3rd child15%
4th child20%

The discount applies to half-day preschool, kindergarten, and elementary tuitions. It does not apply to registration fees, full day preschool, Kids' Club, field trips, or other miscellaneous charges.

There is no reduction in fees if the child is absent or if school must be closed due to severe weather conditions.

Termination of Services:

A one month written notice is required in case of withdrawal of a child from school. A one month written notice will be given to parents if it becomes necessary for The Country Day School to terminate a child from our program. In the event that our program does not meet the needs of the child (as determined by the Director and Staff), The Country Day School reserves the right to drop any child from our enrollment. This right will also be exercised if the child's presence poses a threat to the welfare of others.

In the event of termination for any reason, registration fees are not refundable and full tuition is still due. Tuition refund insurance forms must be filled out and signed by the parent; insurance will be filed by the office. After an insurance payment is received, a statement will be sent tot he parent and final payment is due within 30 days. Tuition refund insurance does not apply to full day preschool or Kids' Club.

Other Policies

Child's Illness at School:

When a child becomes ill at the School, the welfare of the child and the consideration of others are our first concerns. A child may not attend school with fever, rash, discharge from eyes or ears, diarrhea, or a harsh cough. Children who become ill at school must be picked up immediately; parents will be called.

The children have outdoor play daily, weather permitting. In general, a child who is too ill to participate in the outdoor activities should remain at home until he/she is able to participate in the School's program. Please contact the office if your child is ill and not able to attend. The Country Day School must be informed of all communicable diseases (i.e., chicken pox, pink eye, head lice, etc.).

Medication:

Please DO NOT send medicine of any kind in your child’s lunchbox or backpack.  The Country Day School is unable to dispense prescription or over the counter medication while your child is at school due to recent changes in DHR medication regulations and a new state law that addresses the dispensation of medications at school.  However, parents may come to school and administer medication to their own child at any time.

CDS will administer minor first aid and will contact parents immediately if their child is running a temp or exhibits obvious signs of illness.  Parents are expected to immediately remove a child from school with a temp or signs of illness.  CDS is also unable to apply sunscreen or insect repellant to your child at school.  Please apply these protections to your child prior to bringing them to school in the morning.

Allergic reactions and asthma attacks fall into another category.  A standing doctor’s order for emergency treatment must be filed with the school office giving the school specific instructions to follow in case of needed emergency treatment.  Parents will be notified immediately if either of these situations arises, but having the doctor’s orders on file will allow the school to administer emergency treatment.  911 will be called if parents cannot be reached.  It is very important that the office have correct phone numbers for all families.

Lunches and Snacks:

A healthy mind and a healthy body go together. A child's diet has a direct effect on his behavior, as well as his ability to learn. The healthiest foods are those as close to their natural state as possible. To this end, it is our strong preference to avoid candy, gum, Kool-Aid, and other such high sugar/high fat snacks.

For children who bring their lunch each day we have refrigerators available. Microwave ovens are available for those who prefer a hot lunch. Some elementary classes have regular pizza days throughout the year. Teachers will send information home with your child if that class participates.

Toys:

Interesting, educational items for Show and Tell are welcome, but please NO TOYS. They are too difficult to share and protect from damage.

Clothing:

Please send children in casual, comfortable play clothes. Preschool children need a complete change of clothing in a Zip-loc bag to be left at school.
